The stress of higher education has been around as long as there has been colleges and universities, but now more and more colleges are embracing meditation as a college curriculum.

Iconic Rocker Sir Paul McCartney, TV Impresario Oprah Winfrey, and Comedic Director Judd Apatow, all praise Transcendental Meditation for reaching their highest creativity. 50 years ago, the Spiritual leader Maharishi Mahesh Yogi first introduced this meditative technique to America. Now, Transcendental Meditation is spreading across college campuses in the form of a higher education degree.

While many movies, personal anecdotes and popular culture as a whole dictate that your college years are some of the best in your life, they all manage to leave out the fact that it’s also a very stressful time in your life!

Students embarking on their collegiate path face strenuous times, some as early as the moment they turn their tassels to the left. Pre-grad course work can be a nightmare as papers stack like rocks, projects build like boulders, and exams feel like an uphill battle. But a trend in meditation is beginning to emerge on college campuses across the nation.

The facts are in and it’s anything but a secret these days; meditation helps lower blood pressure, anxiety, depression and a slew of other ailments and misalignments. And while meditation takes on numerous different forms, Transcendental Meditation technique is stimulating the brain in a particular way and is the latest craze in college today.

Like most meditation forms, Transcendental Meditation technique takes only about 20 minutes per day. The TM technique works by sitting quietly, allowing your mind to settle beyond thoughts, while going straight to the source of pure awareness. This peaceful level of consciousness enables the brain to function with a greater awareness, while the body gains deep rest. And that line state of mind is just the ticket for the stresses of higher education.

And it doesn’t look like they’re alone. Over 200 universities like Harvard, UCLA, and Stanford have already incorporated Transcendental Meditation into their curriculum. The TM technique is helping students build their intellectual understanding as they transcend from the collegiate field into the rigorous marketplace of our new unknown.
