Lady Bugs Bring Good Luck
I was invited to a fundraiser last evening for Senator Kevin Parker. I was told there were going to be cocktails and hors d’oeuvres. For $ 45.00 I thought the hors d’oeuvres and cocktails were included, so I was so disappointed when the bartender said I owed her $10 for my drink. I had been misinformed. Oh well, what can you do.
My colleague Lauren, who is a woman in my Mastermind group, introduced me to a woman by the name of Tiffany who works for…Tiffany. I thought that was very funny and started to laugh. She asked: “What’s so funny?” I said: “Do other people find it amusing when you tell them your name and where you work?” She replied: “Oh yes. I get it all the time!” Tiffany was actually quite lovely and we began a conversation. At one point, Lauren said to me “Oh my god, you have a lady bug on you. That’s such good luck. Look at it. It’s got all the dots.” And so I just stared at it for a minute. I was so excited, because I remembered hearing that if a ladybug lands on you it brings good fortune. Also, the more dots it has on it, the luckier it is, and mine had a lot of them. I should have counted, there were so many.
Many cultures view ladybugs as lucky, and a great deal of superstition surrounds them. The most likely explanation for this is because of their diet. Ladybugs eat harmful crop pests and are welcomed by gardeners and farmers. Because of this, ladybugs are viewed as a blessing, which explains the positive associations with them. Some cultures also link the sight of a ladybug with future luck in love, good weather, a financial windfall and/or the granting of wishes (especially if it lands directly on you). Now you get an idea of how happy I was when I read up on all this wonderful insight on the history of ladybugs.
I keep putting my wish out to the universe to bring me my life partner. When the ladybug landed on me, it gave me so much hope. Not to mention, I’ve secretly always wanted an engagement ring from Tiffany (one of my all time favorite movies is “Breakfast at Tiffany’s” and I’ve always wanted to emulate Audrey Hepburn’s character’s life). So you can imagine how excited I was when the ladybug landed on me in front of Tiffany from Tiffany. I know REALLY soon that my wish will be granted and luck is on my side.
Some people believe that we create our own luck. Some people believe that you are either a lucky person or not. I believe it’s a bit of both. We need to put ourselves out there and create our own luck. Then, when a synchronistic landing like this happens we can believe! Do you?
